Early paper dolls were luxury items, so expensive that only the wealthiest
aristocrats could afford them. They were printed on hand-made rag papers
and meticulously colored by hand. With mass production and lower standards,
the quality of paper dolls suffered and they lost much of their charm.
In a world increasingly overwhelmed by technology, our paper dolls are
created to ignite intellect and intelligence through classic characters
of literature, history and the arts. These unique works of art encourage
children to read - and, of course, are great fun to play with. They inspire
old-fashioned interaction between adult and child and help develop concentration
and motor skills.
While our paper dolls continue to be a popular children's toy, our biggest
market consists of passionate collectors from all over the world.
Legacy paper dolls are hand-signed by internationally published fashion
artist and children's book illustrator Donald Hendricks and are perfect
for framing. Each set consists of two exquisitely drawn 8 ½" x 11" doll
pages on heavy stock, plus two handsomely decorated insert pages of informative
comments, printed on acid-free paper for long life and safe storage.
